1. What Is Piezo Rhinoplasty?

Piezo rhinoplasty is a modern rhinoplasty technique in which the nasal bones are shaped using ultrasonic vibrations.

In this method:

• A piezoelectric device is used instead of the classical hammer–chisel,

• Thick or asymmetric nasal bones,
• Cases requiring precise reshaping of the bony framework,
• Primary and revision rhinoplasties.

However, it should be remembered:

• Piezo is used for bone procedures; nasal tip shaping and cartilage work are still performed with classical surgical techniques.

4. Who Is a Suitable Candidate for Piezo Rhinoplasty?

Suitable candidates include those who:

• Have irregularity, width or a hump in the bony nasal structure,
• Prefer less bruising and more controlled bone shaping,
• Are in a general state of health appropriate for surgery,
• Have realistic expectations.

The Piezo technique is not a “one size fits all solution” for every nose; proper patient selection is important.

5. Preoperative Evaluation and Planning

During the planning stage:

• The bony nasal framework is analysed in detail,

  1. Removal of splints and silicone supports,
  2. Safe follow up in the early postoperative period.

During this time, the patient is given detailed instructions regarding:

• Desk based work: 7–10 days,
• Feeling comfortable in social environments: 7–12 days.

Sports:

• Light activities: 3–4 weeks,
