Breast lift with implants is a combined surgical procedure performed to both lift and restore volume to breasts that have sagged and lost fullness. It combines mastopexy (breast lift) and breast augmentation (implant placement) in a single session. It is particularly suitable for women whose breasts have sagged and lost volume due to pregnancy, breastfeeding or ageing.
This procedure consists of two main components:
Mastopexy (Lift):
The surgeon reshapes the breast skin and tissue to create a higher, firmer breast position. The nipple–areola complex is moved to a more elevated position and excess skin is removed to correct sagging.
Implant Placement (Augmentation):
In the second step, the selected silicone or saline implant is placed either under the chest muscle or above it (submuscular or subglandular). This compensates for lost volume and creates a fuller upper pole of the breast.
The combination of these two procedures provides breasts that are both lifted and volumised.
Your surgeon will choose the most appropriate technique based on the degree of sagging, skin elasticity and the desired volume.
Anaesthesia: General anaesthesia is administered. In some cases, intravenous sedation may also be used.
Incisions: Depending on the chosen technique, incisions are made around the areola, along the vertical line, and if necessary, along the inframammary fold.
Reshaping Breast Tissue and Skin: The surgeon lifts and reshapes the breast tissue to correct sagging, and removes excess skin.
Implant Placement: The selected implant is placed either in the submuscular (under the muscle) or subglandular (under the breast tissue) pocket.
Positioning the Areola and Nipple: The nipple–areola complex is repositioned higher on the breast mound and, if needed, its size is reduced.
Closing the Incisions: The incisions are closed in layers with sutures. The surgeon then applies dressings and a supportive surgical bra.

The results of breast lift with implants are generally long-lasting; however:
can cause the breasts to sag again over time. Implants are not lifetime devices; they may need to be replaced or removed after around 10–20 years. A healthy lifestyle, stable body weight and regular surgical follow-ups help maintain the results for many years.
Mild to moderate pain and tenderness are normal for the first few days after surgery and can be controlled with pain medication. The supportive bra and the medications recommended by your surgeon help increase comfort.
Most patients can return to light work and social activities within 10–14 days. You should wait 4–6 weeks before resuming heavy physical activities and strenuous exercise.
During mastopexy, the milk ducts can be affected and breastfeeding may become more difficult for some women. If you plan to have children or breastfeed in the future, it is important to discuss this with your surgeon in advance.
Your breasts usually remain lifted and fuller for many years. However, due to ageing, pregnancy or weight changes, some degree of sagging may occur again over time. Since implants have a limited lifespan, revision surgery may be needed in the future.
Depending on the degree of sagging and your anatomy, your surgeon may choose lollipop (vertical), anchor (inverted-T) or periareolar (donut) incision patterns. These techniques are suitable for both tightening the skin and lifting the breast, while also allowing implant placement.
