1. What Is Fat Injection?

Genital aesthetic fat injection is a procedure in which a patient’s own fat tissue is harvested from the body, processed with special techniques and injected into the genital area.

The most common target area is:

• Labia majora (outer lips)

The aims are to:

• Correct volume loss
• Restore a fuller, more youthful and healthy appearance
• Improve sagging and hollowing in the genital area

This procedure is considered a natural filler.

2. For What Purposes Is It Performed?

Genital fat injection is generally preferred in cases of:

• Volume loss due to ageing
• Hollowing after weight loss
• Tissue weakening after childbirth
• Asymmetrical appearance
• Genital area looking “aged” or deflated

In some patients, it is also performed after labioplasty to restore balance and harmony.

3. Aesthetic and Functional Effects of Genital Fat Injection

When performed correctly:

4. Who Is a Suitable Candidate?

Suitable candidates are women who:

• Have sufficient fat reserves for harvesting
• Are in a general state of health suitable for the procedure
• Have no active infection
• Have realistic expectations

In very slim patients, it may be difficult to obtain enough fat.

5. Pre-procedure Evaluation and Planning

During the planning stage, the following are assessed:

• Degree of volume loss
• Need for symmetry correction
• Areas from which fat will be harvested (abdomen, flanks, hips, etc.)

Over-injection is avoided, because a portion of the fat will naturally be reabsorbed by the body.

6. How Is Fat Injection Performed?

Step by step:

• The donor area is numbed with local anaesthesia
• Fat is gently aspirated using fine cannulas
• The fat is processed and purified with special methods
• The prepared fat is injected in a controlled manner into the labia majora
• The entire procedure usually takes around 1 hour

7. Properties and Permanence of the Fat Used

• The fat used is the patient’s own fat
• There is no allergy risk
• A portion of the injected fat is reabsorbed over time
• The remaining fat is permanent
• A second session may be needed in some patients – this should be discussed in advance

8. Anaesthesia and Procedure Day

• No pain is felt during the procedure
• A feeling of fullness and tightness afterwards is normal
• The patient is discharged on the same day, walking
• Pain is usually controlled with simple painkillers

9. The First Days After the Procedure

In the first days:

• Mild swelling and oedema can occur
• Temporary firmness or nodularity may be felt in the injection area
• Tight clothing should be avoided
• Attention to local hygiene is important

These findings usually regress within a short time.

10. Staying in Istanbul and Follow-up Visits

A stay of 2–3 days in Istanbul is usually sufficient for:

• A check-up examination
• Evaluation of the injection area

There are no stitches and dressing needs are minimal.

11. Returning to Social Life, Work and Sports

• Desk-based work: 2–3 days
• Daily social life: around 1 week
• Sports and sexual intercourse: 3–4 weeks

This period is important to allow the fat to stabilise and “take”.

12. Possible Risks and Limitations

• Partial resorption of the fat
• Asymmetry
• Temporary firmness or irregularity
• Rarely, infection
